Mysore: JSS Mahavidyapeetha is celebrating the 102nd birth anniversary celebrations of Sri Shivaratri Rajendra Swami of Suttur Matt on August 29 at its premises. On the occasion, as part of the centenary celebration of Sri Shivaratri Rajendra Swami, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will launch the work to construct 11 ft statue of Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Swamiji which will be coming up at Shivarathrishwara Circle abutting the Mysuru Palace’s Varaha gate and Gun House.

Addressing media persons, C G Betsurmath, Executive Secretary of JSS-M said, “The 11 ft statue with 6 ft pedestal which will be made up of Panchaloha, a mixture of five metals and circle will be coming up at a cost of Rs 3 crore and will be completed in four to five months’ time. His sayings and his contributions to the society will be carved below the statue and across the circle of the statue. The cost for the statue will be borne by donors and devotees.

On the occasion, Rajendra Swamiji’s statue will be carried out in a procession from JSS-M via the thoroughfares of the city before culminating at Sri Suttur Matt. As part of the birth anniversary celebrations of the seer, JSS Mahavidyapeetha will be conducting various activities including awareness on blood, body and eye donation.

Apart from this, JSS-M will be feeding all the animals and birds of Mysore Zoo by spending Rs 1 Lakh. It will also provide scholarships to 45 students of JSS Group of Institutions who have scored good marks in various exams and nearly 134 employees of JSS-M who have retired from service will also be felicitated.
